Sydney Seaplanes got approval to land and take off from Lake Burley Griffin but approval to do the same in Sydney is proving harder to get because the airspace is so busy. "It's a very complex airspace," the company's managing director, Aaron Shaw, said. He said he and his company were working "cooperatively and positively" with the regulators, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and Airservices Australia. But he was resigned to waiting. "It doesn't bother me if it takes ten years. Life goes on," he said. "Getting approval to land on Lake Burley Griffin was a small part of the picture, and that took four years." Mr Shaw said that the complexity came because he wanted to operate a regular service which had to be reliable, even in poor weather.
